Adana is located in the Mediterranean region in the centre of the very fertile soils of Cukurova. With an area of 14,000 km2 and a population of 2 million, it is the sixth largest city in Turkey. It is known that the city of Adana was mentioned during the Hittite period in 1300 BC. It is considered one of the most fertile soils by the two rivers Seyhan and Ceyhan. As well as through cotton, citrus fruits, soy and many other agricultural products as well as through trade, agriculture, animal husbandry and mining, it is one of the economically leading cities in Turkey.
From the airport to the city centre
Şakirpaşa Airport, located just 3.5 km from Adana city centre, has been open to international airlines since 1956. This belongs not only to the city of Adana, but also to the cities of Mersin and Osmaniye in Çukurova.
