Which items can passengers take with them in special baggage?

Medical equipment, musical instruments and special equipment for babies are called special baggage according to the airlines baggage classifications. Please note that the rules for special baggage may be different for each airline, which changes depending on the duration of the flight and the weight of the equipment.

Wheelchairs

Passengers wheelchairs are carried free of charge in the baggage of the aircraft.

Oxygen tank

Passengers who may need oxygen cylinders during the flight must inform the cabin crew at least 24 hours in advance. It is also helpful to remind the staff of your special request during check-in. The oxygen cylinders of the passengers can be placed in the luggage of the aircraft as checked baggage.

Breathing apparatus

Respirators are taken on board together with the passenger as a cabin or checked baggage. Therefore, it makes sense to report the necessary information about the respirator to the flight attendants at least 48 hours in advance.

Musical

As long as you do not exceed the hand luggage dimensions, you can take all musical instruments on board as hand luggage. If the size of the musical instrument exceeds this standard and you absolutely want to carry it in the cabin, you will have to purchase an additional seat. Of course, the fact that this musical instrument weighs no more than 7.5 kg is an important detail for getting it into the cabin. If your musical instrument weighs more than 7.5 kilos, you should know that it is transported in the luggage compartment of the aircraft.

Baby products

Strollers and mother clutches, the size of which does not exceed 70 ①30 cm, can be carried free of charge if your baby travels with you. Those who want to travel with the stroller, which is used for babies from 2 years old, will receive a children's fee. If you want to take the stroller to the plane as checked baggage, and the baby is on the same plane, there is no charge.
